SHARE YOUR STORY

If you have a story about addiction and would like to help end the stigma, please consider sharing it below. It can be your own direct experience or how addiction has affected someone close to you.

WILL YOU SHARE YOUR STORY?

Do you have a story of addiction that you would like to share? Join our campaign to encourage Australia to Rethink Addiction by sharing your story below. Your story can be about you or someone close to you. The stories will be used as part of our campaign to humanise and destigmatise addiction. As shown above we will place your story on a small image, so choosing one aspect of your story and keeping it to 100-200 words is ideal.
  • How your addiction started

  • How/when/why you looked for help

  • How addiction impacted relationships/work/study

  • What surprised you about treatment

  • Your life after addiction

  • The importance of peer support

  • Similar stories from the perspective of a family member or friend

  • Experience as a clinician, healthcare worker or in peer support

  • Any other aspect of addiction that you feel needs to be talked about

We will not use your story without confirming that you are comfortable with sharing it and if you would like to remain anonymous, please let us know at the start of your response.
