Has a lived experience of addiction
Living with and then recovering, slowly, from addiction to alcohol, amphetamines and cocaine was brutal. I spent most of my life just not feeling okay; alcohol and drugs removed that feeling but came with their own array of problems which got worse and worse, eventually taking me to the edge of suicide.
However, what was impossible to see whilst struggling through this period was how incredible life could be once I was able to stop drinking and using by getting some time and space way from it.
My career flourished, I am in a happy relationship with good boundaries and healthy communication, I get to do all the things I sat in pubs talking about and have become an adventurer and explorer.
I have climbed mountains, run ultramarathons and swum marathons. Life is big beyond addiction!
