I was the child of an man who had a substantial substance use disorder, resulting in substantial domestic violence and kinship care. My father’s substance use continued until his death by suicide in 2013. Following this lived experience of addiction I am now a senior registered nurse and my specialty is mental health and AOD nursing (dual diagnosis).
