Thank you for your continued support of the campaign to #RethinkAddiction.
As we approach the end of 2021, we wanted to thank you for all of your support for our campaign this year.
Our Partners and Supporters
The #RethinkAddiction campaign now has more than 50 partners signed up to the campaign to change the conversation about addiction in Australia. Our partners play an incredibly important role. We would like to thank our partners for their support this year and look forward to the year ahead.
In addition to our partners, more than 3000 people from Australia and internationally have joined the campaign to #RethinkAddiction across Australia.
More than 60 people have submitted their personal stories of their lived experience of addiction, or the experience of their family or friends. The #RethinkAddiction will make an exciting announcement about the next steps in this campaign in early 2022, so keep an eye out for emails from us in January!
Despite the challenges of COVID-19 during 2021, the #RethinkAddiction campaign held its first event in Melbourne, Victoria in May. Almost 400 people attended the event which featured a discussion about the Addicted Australia series and some of our key partners. If you missed out on the event, you can watch the panel discussion on our website.
Save the Date! #RethinkAddiction convention
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we decided to postpone the #RethinkAddiction until next year. We are now very excited to announce that the 2022 National Convention will take place in September or October. We are confirming venue availability and hope to have an exact date for you calendars in early 2022. Please watch our for further announcements in early 2022.
Bringing voices of change to Canberra
The National Convention will be an unparalleled opportunity for the sector and people with lived experience to unite voices and change the conversation. In early 2022, we hope to kickstart this work by launching an effort to bring as many real stories as we can to Canberra.
In the lead up to the Convention we will be calling on our partners and supporters to collect hundreds of stories relating to alcohol, other drugs and gambling issues. We are looking for stories from individuals, family members, loved ones, peer support workers and many more that tell an honest story and fight back against the stigma and shame that prevents people from seeking help.
Stay tuned - we will be announcing more in early 2022.
Thank you again for your continuing support in 2021. We look forward to working with you as we continue to grow our campaign to #RethinkAddiction in 2022.
We wish you and your family a safe and happy festive season.
